The Abandoned Nest

This abandoned nest reminds me of our disembodied culture. We’ve got this incredible earthly nest that we aren’t fully present with, including our own bodies. After a couple decades of working closely with people and their bodies, this is resoundingly clear. We have a long way to go around truly being able to listen to what our bodies have to say in our cut-off-at-the-neck culture.

Our bodies are the archives, the living libraries of our personal and intergenerational stories. Sure, we inherit challenges but we also inherit a serious amount of strength & capacity.I leave my body frequently, even after many years practicing embodiment. The busy thought-train continues to take me out. No wonder I’ve lost my keys so much!

The collective & individual trauma has perpetuated this exodus from the body where the pain lives. It’s no wonder people want to escape. For me, in big moments, my self-soothing has been mostly emotional eating & screens when I wasn’t engaged in using my other embodiment tools.

Embodiment is unfortunately foreign to most of us. The disembodiment of our culture sings loudly when I hear of the two wealthiest people on Earth spending billions on space travel versus using their abundance to work with restorative permaculture to regenerate the beautiful nest we’ve been gifted. Why use mega resources to leave the planet instead of tending to the hearth we already live in?

I’m curious how their business practices would differ if they were tapped into their body wisdom. Our bodies house the living intelligence of the elements, which connect us to the nature we are inherently made from. How can that wisdom transform the way business is operated? With businesses, humans have created brutal problems and brilliant solutions.

I have run my own business for 18 years and worked myself into burnout many times not listening to my body for various reasons. The Embodied Entrepreneur is a daylong retreat/workshop onl!ne this Saturday for highly sensitive entrepreneurs to connect with the creative genius that lives within. I’m offering the work I also need.

This is a low skill/high presence exploration of Expressive Arts Therapy tools that expand the range of play, nourishment & discovery in response to our service in the world.
